Creative Ways to Declutter Your Home This Summer

We are firm believers in the “clean space, clean mind” mentality. Having a tidied house can improve productivity and overall mental health. But when you have too much stuff, it can feel overwhelming to think about getting rid of it all.

Declutter Your home

Cleaning takes time and energy, but there are a few ways to minimize your efforts. Below, we’ll discuss a few creative ways you can declutter your home without putting in too many hours.

1. Facebook Marketplace

This platform has grown tremendously over the last decade, and is a great way to showcase items you have without throwing an actual garage sale. There are options to have your listings show up locally or nationally, and you can select whether you’re willing to ship the item or not. If that’s the case, you might not even have to leave the house! You can also select whether you’d like to pick up or drop off. For larger items like couches, desks, etc., most people will come to you which saves you time from loading and driving items to another location.

2. Ebay

If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck on small but higher priced items, Ebay might be your best bet. You have the option to sell items at a set price, or create a bidding auction where potential buyers can compete for the best deal. Again, all it takes is taking pictures of the items and posting them to the site. So until it comes to shipping, there’s very little you’ll need to do on your end!

3. Poshmark

The Poshmark app is particularly helpful when it comes to selling shoes, clothes, and accessories. You can choose to sell items separately, or “bundle” them so buyers can purchase your items in bulk. And poshmark already creates a pre-paid label for you by taking out a small portion of your sale. If you plan on shipping a lot of items, consider buying boxes and envelopes in bulk so you don’t have to keep running back to the store.

4. Donate

If you don’t feel the need to sell items and would rather just do away with them, then donate. You can drop boxes off in bulk at Goodwill or Salvation Army anytime. If you live somewhere with an HOA, sometimes they send out announcements to residents about donation pickup days. Then you just stick the boxes on your porch and voila! You can easily declutter your home.

5. Organize

Sometimes, it’s not much stuff you have — but rather how you’ve organized it. Look for any ways you can to maximize space. You can buy crates, boxes, and other organizers in bulk on Amazon or a nearby container store. Think of it like a tetris game — everything should fit in place just perfectly.
